WW2 British army issue No4 MkII Pig Sticker bayonet by Savage.

£55

WW2 British army issue No4 MkII Pig Sticker bayonet to fit the No4 service rifle by Savage of the USA in its US manufactured plastic scabbard. The boss stamped to the left side No4 Mk?? over S issue mark for the Savage arms Co (The designation lightly struck and the II indistinct). The right side of the boss stamped with issue number 465. In its plastic MkIII scabbard which are believed to have been manufactured by the Victory Plastics Co of America and supplied to Savage for issue with these US made contract bayonets. Regulation British WW2 issue bayonet, the No4 was little more than a screw driver blade welded onto a boss that fitted over the barrel of the rifle, but it worked well enough although unlike the more conventional knife bayonets it could not be used as a fighting knife. In good condition with much original blue to the boss with working catch in its correct MkIII plastic scabbard, a good British issue US contract WW2 bayonet.
