WW2 British army issue No4 MkII Pig Sticker bayonet to fit the No4 service rifle by Savage of the USA in its issue scabbard. The boss stamped to the left side No4 MkII over S, the manufacturers mark for the Stevens Savage plant of Chicopee Falls in Massachusetts. Release catch to the underside. In its regulation issue blued steel scabbard stamped to the locket N64 for manufacture by Sheffield Steel Products Ltd. Regulation British WW2 issue bayonet, the No4 was little more than a screw driver blade welded onto a boss that fitted over the barrel of the rifle, but it worked well enough although unlike the more conventional knife bayonets it could not be used as a fighting knife. Savage produced over 1 million No4 rifles and bayonets for the British army during WW2 under the lend lease agreement and they saw service in all theatres of the war, 40,000 were even sent to China. In good condition with much finish to the boss and scabbard with working catch. A good example of a US lend lease bayonet issued to the British army during the later major actions of WW2.
