£185
A German M98 dress bayonet in scabbard by E.u.F Horster of Solingen. Reduced size K98 pattern hilt with finely chequered Bakelite / plastic grip scales has working spring release catch to the rear right. Highly polished single edged fullered blade with cross guard and leather stop grommet to the top is stamped with an E.u.F HORSTER SOLINGEN roundel with trade mark to the centre to the right side of the blade. In its original black painted steel scabbard stamped 15 to the top. Not actually designed to fit on a rifle despite the locking catch etc these dress bayonets were private purchase items to be worn mostly by enlisted men and NCO’s of the pre war Wehrmacht and other pseudo military units while wearing uniform socially, which many did when going out at weekends or evenings during the period of Nazi rule. In very good condition with well polished blade, good plastic grips with no chips or cracks in a good scabbard. An interesting German dress bayonet by one of the scarcer makers from the famous blade making town of Solingen.
