£195

A German M98 dress bayonet in scabbard by Weyersberg Kirschbaum & Co. of Solingen. Reduced size K98 pattern hilt with finely chequered Bakelite / plastic grip scales has working spring release catch to the rear right retaining its original red felt filler in the bayonet bar slot. Highly polished single edged fullered blade with cross guard and leather stop grommet to the top is stamped with a knights head trade mark over WKC for manufacture by Weyersberg Kirschbaum & Co. of Solingen. In its original black painted steel scabbard. Not actually designed to fit on a rifle despite the locking catch etc these dress bayonets were private purchase items to be worn mostly by enlisted men and NCO’s of the pre war Wehrmacht and other pseudo military units while wearing uniform socially, which many did when going out at weekends or evenings during the period of Nazi rule. In very good condition with well polished blade, good plastic grips with no chips or cracks in a good scabbard. An interesting German dress bayonet retaining the scarce felt filler to the rear.
