£175

An interesting Dornbuchse Model 1854 Prussian bayonet supplied to Schleswig Holstein forces during their rebellion against the Danish. Socket with spring retaining latch designed by Johan Khyl and first used in 1794. The socket stamped 1855 with barred out 9971 4875 with later Danish issue 1357 mark applied after the muskets and bayonets were captured by the Danish army. Fullered tri corn blade with Prussian Suhl inspection / manufacture stamp to the elbow. A typical socket bayonet of the period these are interesting weapons having been supplied to the small state Schleswig Holstein by their larger Prussian neighbours who supported their rebellion against the Danes, and then taken into Danish army service after the rebellion was put down alongside the captured muskets that went with them. In good condition with well marked socket and working catch. A good example of a scarce Prussian bayonet with an interesting history.
