An interesting 12 ½” blade European socket bayonet in the style of the French AN IX bayonet possibly for a cadet rifle. French pattern socket with locking ring is 2 ½” long with 18.5mm internal diameter with issue number 35 stamped to the left side of the elbow. 12 ½” tricorn blade of French AN IX or 1847 pattern is struck to the top flat with makers mark AM. An apparently reduced size version of the issue French bayonet, possibly for issue with a cadet carbine? In good condition with working locking ring and clean blade with some pitting to the tip for approx 3”. An interesting item worthy of further research.
