A scarce Swiss spike bayonet to fit the Rexim Favor Mk4 SMG. 7 ¾” long smooth spike blade with knurled band half way along the mounting socket with release catch and latch to either side of the collar. Serial number sped to the end 10454. The little known Rexim Favor SMG was a French design marketed by a Swiss firm and manufactured in Spain by La Coruna. Both the gun and bayonet were based on the German WW2 FG 42 paratroopers’ rifle / LMG with the bayonet being stowed away reversed in its mounting in the forend when not in use, that idea being copied from the French M1936 bayonet and rifle. Rexim went bankrupt in 1957 having manufactured well under 5000 weapons but the gun did later achieve fame in 1977 when one was used as the basis for one of the ‘blasters’ used in Star Wars. In very good apparently little used condition, a nice and scarce post war bayonet.
