A pair of extremely rare original 1st edition British Government HMSO field manuals dated 1870. The first ‘Rifle Exercises and Musketry Instruction 1870, Pocket Edition. The second ‘Field Exercise 1870, Pocket Edition. Both 4 ¾” X 3 ½” with rear clasps missing and front one present. In fair / good condition published for the guidance of His Majesty’s Officers just a couple of years before the Martini Henry entered service and when the adoption of the Snider breech Loader was changing the way war would be fought in the coming years. An extremely rare pair of field manuals from the mid years of Victoria’s reign.
