A pair of WW1 period German commercial C P Goerz prismatic binoculars taken into British service with Broad Arrow marks to the front plates. Wheel operated focus and width adjustment, signed to the rear C P GOERZ BERLIN X6 with brown leather covered tubes and Bakelite eye pieces. A pair of German manufactured commercial binoculars, probably stock in an English shop at the outbreak of war, taken into British Army service during the Great War to meet the demands for field glasses as the army expanded in months from 100,000 men to several million officers and men. In good working order with sharp image and working focus with losses to the paint work. The optics would benefit from an internal clean. C/W original leather neck strap.
