A pair of WW1 1916 dated Ordnance Broad Arrow marked ‘Binocular Prismatic S2’ field glasses by E R Watts and Son. Stippled leather finish to the body engraved to the front plates with large Ordnance Broad Arrow ownership marks with central focus wheel. Signed to the rear E R WATTS & SON 1916. A good quality pair of commercial binoculars taken into British Army service during the Great War to meet the demands for field glasses as the army expanded in months from 100,000 men to several million officers and men. In good working order with sharp image and working focus with some losses to the paint work. The optics would benefit from an internal clean. C/W original leather neck strap.
