An interesting unnamed pair of WW1 period multi magnification Galilean binoculars with built in compass. Leather covered bodies with central focus wheel has a miniature compass to the front of the central focus column between the lenses. Rotating wheel to the right rear to adjust the magnification of the binoculars with settings for FIELD, MARINE and THEATRE. 4 ½” long closed, 6” fully extended. In good condition with working focus, magnification and clear image. Some leather shrinkage to the bodies and a small dent to the right front. Complete with contemporary leather strap. An unusual pair of early multi magnification binoculars designed for field and sport use with a built in compass.
