A good cased pair of WW1 era binoculars by Colmont of Paris. Leather bound bodies with sliding sun shades have a central focusing wheel and articulated frame, the eyepieces signed COLMONT FAB PARIS. In their original black velvet lined leather case with shoulder strap, the interior of the lid marked COLMONT 37 & 39 AVENUE DE LA REPUBLIQUE PARIS. Typical of the sporting binoculars of the WW1 period such glasses were widely purchased by both national governments for issue to the fighting troops in the tranches of the Great War and by officers who wanted a pair of good quality binoculars for their service in the war. In very good condition with clear image and focus in their original leather case in good condition with all intact stitching. A nice pair of classic WW1 era binoculars by a good Paris firm.
