A scarce and interesting boxed WW2 G45 RAF issue gun camera by Willaimson of London and Reading, as used on WW2 Spitfires and Hurricanes and post war early jet fighters. Adopted by the RAF in 1939 as WW2 broke out the G45 gun camera used 25 foot long lengths of orthochromatic 16mm movie film and could run at 16, 18 or 20 frames per second to correspond to the rates of fire of the in service Lewis guns, Vickers K guns and the wing mounted belt fed Browning guns of the front line fighters. The cameras were mounted in the wings of the fighters and were electronically operated by the aircrafts pneumatic firing mechanism on the monoplane fighters and could be used either for training, to show pilots if their aim was good, or in combat to confirm aerial victories or damage done to enemy aircraft. The G45 was a very successful camera which saw service on all fronts during WW2 and into the cold war in the gun armed jet fighters of the post war age such as the Meteors and Vampires. In excellent condition with standard short lens and 16mm film magazine in its correct issue box. A very nice example of a scarce issue RAF gun camera, untested due to the lack of a spitfire!
