A steel bodied Sykes Patent Extra Quality rifle or shot gun flask. Steel flat sided body with raised steel rib joint has brass collar to the top. Patent top with spring operated shutter is signed EXTRA QUALITY SYKES PATENT with adjustable spout graduated for 2 ½ to 3 ¼ drams of black powder, the nozzle engraved to one side SYKES and Drams to the other. A nice example of the classic English powder flask with a desirable raised rib steel body by one of the best of the Victorian makers. In good condition with nice clean body and working shutter.
